Overview Photovoltaic



Photovoltaic systems generate electricity by using sunlight. The size of installations can range from a few watts (Solar Kits to run a lamp or a USB-charger) to several megawatts, delivering enough electricity for a village or unburdening the national electricity grid. All photovoltaic installations can be combined with a battery, so the duration of energy supply can be drastically extended, especially during nighttime or periods of poor weather. Earth Technologies has a broad experience in installing all sizes of Photovoltaic Power Plants for domestic, commercial and industrial use, and for specific requirements like telecom sites.

Photovoltaic systems come in three different categories:

On-grid
The electric system of the household, factory etc. is connected to the PV-installation and the grid (and a generator, if necessary). So, there is a constant energy supply from one of these sources.

Off-grid
The electric system of the household, factory etc. is connected to the PV-installation and a generator. So, the energy supply has to be provided by these two sources.

Grid-interactive
The grid-interactive system is a mixture of off-grid and on-grid systems. In this case, the electricity from the grid can be used to charge the battery (to use it during power outages) and overproduction of the PV-system can be fed into the grid (net metering).

Photovoltaic Systems

On-grid Solar Systems

Earth Technologies’ on-grid photovoltaic systems are the perfect solutions to reduce your electricity bill by producing and consuming your own solar energy.

Our systems are a combination of:

  • first class photovoltaic panels producing electricity from the sun
  • on-grid inverters to enable the use of this electricity for your consumption
  • mounting structure to fix the panels on a roof or any type of field
  • protection circuits according to each country electric code


According to your needs, our systems can also include:

  • generator controllers to protect the generator in case a back-up diesel generator is used
  • remote monitoring systems to better monitor, control and manage your solar energy production and consumption

Off-grid Solar Systems

Earth Technologies’ off-grid photovoltaic systems allow you to get access to clean and reliable electricity around the clock independently from electric utilities and private or subscription diesel generators. Our off-grid systems include Energy Storage Systems (ESS) to provide you with extended flexibility on when to use the energy your Solar System produces.

Our systems are a combination of:

  • first class photovoltaic panels producing electricity from the sun
  • inverters/chargers to enable the use of this electricity for your consumption and charge the batteries
  • batteries to store the electricity for a later use
  • solar charge controllers to monitor the battery charging and protect the batteries
  • mounting structure to fix the panels on a roof or any type of field


According to your needs, our systems can also include:

  • generator controllers to protect the generator in case a back-up diesel generator is used
  • remote monitoring systems to better manage your solar energy production, storage and consumption

Grid Interactive Solar Systems

Earth Technologies’ grid interactive systems provide you reliable clean electricity to reduce your dependence from the grid.

Our systems can be AC coupled or DC coupled and are a combination of:

  • first class photovoltaic panels producing electricity from the sun
  • dual mode inverters/chargers to enable the use of this electricity for your consumption and charge the batteries
  • batteries to store the electricity to be used during electricity blackouts
  • solar charge controllers to monitor the battery charging and protect the batteries
  • mounting structure to fix the panels on a roof or any type of field


According to your needs, our systems can also include:

Solar Water Heating

Earth Technologies’ solar water heating systems are the perfect solutions to reduce your electricity bill for the production of domestic hot water. These systems significantly reduce the need for conventional water heating sources such as electric or gas-oil fired boilers by using the available sun energy.

Solar water heating systems save money and prevent harmful emissions caused from the burning of fossil fuels and hence, are an efficient, environmentally friendly solution that ensure the production of your hot water needs all year long.



Our systems are a combination of:

  • High efficiency solar collectors that harness the sun energy
  • High end solar tanks designed for the best quality of hot water storage
  • Smart controllers that monitor system parameters such as system temperature, pressure and many more
  • Mounting structure for all type of fields (flat roofs, tiled roofs, ground mounted …)


According to your needs, our systems can also include:

  • Special solar sheds that protect your system from overheating problems during your travel periods
  • Special boiler heating option that heats your water while heating your home


Different types of systems are available depending on your needs and application; either residential, commercial or industrial.

Split Thermo-Siphon System
These systems are mainly used in residential applications and come in many sizes ranging from 100 to 350 liters. These systems feature a solar tank placed directly above the solar panels and they are connected to your household’s hot and cold piping.

Thermo-siphon systems are easy to install and don’t require much space. They can be installed both on flat roofs as well as on tile roofs.



Forced circulation system
These systems can be installed for both industrial and residential applications and range from hundreds to thousands of liters. They include a tank that could be installed in a different location than the solar panels which is beneficial when aesthetics are considered and roof area is scarce.

Forced circulation systems can be implemented with already existing hot water systems that can be directly connected to double coil hot water tanks.

Solar Street Lights

Solar Street Lights are especially suitable for areas with no electrical infrastructure or that need an autonomous lighting system.

Powered by photovoltaic solar energy, Solar Street Lights are composed of photovoltaic cells, a charge controller, batteries and LED lighting, all integrated in one device enabling easy installation and maintenance.

Batteries are charged during the daytime by the photovoltaic cells and power the LED during the night.

Solar Kits

Solar kits (or Pico Solar) are small and light weight systems that mainly consist of a solar panel, a battery and an electrical load, e.g. a lamp. Besides lightning, these compact plug-and-play appliances can also be used to operate small radios, loudspeakers, USB ports (for charging a phone, small fans, radio), small TVs or a little fridge. Especially in remote areas, solar kits can be a sustainable and affordable solution to provide electricity for everyday usage.

Impact on communities

Basic services like clean water, primary health care, education and others often depend on access to electricity. So, besides the reduction of CO2 emissions, solar kits strongly contribute to economic and social development.

Solar Pumping

Solar pumping provides a perfect solution for remote areas where there’s a need to pump water but no electricity is available or only at high cost. Grid connection and expensive diesel generators can be avoided by installing a PV array and using it to operate a pump.

LED Lighting

LED lights are a safe and economic alternative to classical light bulbs. They do not contain poisonous materials such as mercury, do not heat up or produce infrared or ultraviolet radiation.

LED lights provide you with:

  • 60-90% savings in energy consumption (compared to conventional light bulbs)
  • Lifespan of 50,000 hours (almost 13 years of regular usage)
  • Resilience to shocks, low temperatures and grid fluctuations (V/Hz)
  • Easiest retrofitting to existing light fixtures


Due to their revolutionary technology, LED lights not only provide outstanding benefits for residential and industrial use, but they are perfectly suitable for off-grid street lighting in combination with small solar kits.

Variable Frequency Drive

A variable-frequency drive (VFD) is an adjustable-speed drive used in electro-mechanical drive systems to control AC motor speed and torque by varying motor input frequency and voltage.



Electric motors usually consume more energy than required due to design oversize, less load capacity, motor age and to the low quality of motor rewinding.

VFDs control the motors by adjusting the torque or speed, based on the load′s demand. This results in:

  • performance optimization
  • substantial saving on energy cost
  • increased service and motor lifetime
  • augmented production output
  • minimization of maintenance and operation cost

VFDs can be installed in various applications and all synchronous electric motors, ranging from small appliances to the fans, blowers and compressors, etc.

Solar tricycles are three-wheeled vehicles, equipped with a solar panel. The energy produced by the solar panel is either used for an electric motor supporting the driver or it is stored in a battery which can be used later on to feed electric components like USB ports, lightning, Wi-Fi router, radio, TV, etc.

Solar Auto Rickshaw
An auto rickshaw (Tuk Tuk) is a tricycle with an electric motor. Auto rickshaws are especially useful for taxi-like public transport. Earth Technologies offers an auto rickshaw with an extended range, thanks to the solar panel which is installed on the rickshaw’s roof. It supplies the battery and the electric motor with additional electric energy.
